Petra Ritter was an Austrian tennis player who played professionally from 1987 to 1997. Ritter achieved a career-best singles ranking of #52 in the world in January 1995, and a doubles ranking of #60 in the world in May 1993.
Ritter won four ITF singles titles with her first victory coming in May 1987 in Bad Gastein, Austria, when she beat Hester Witvoet. She also won two ITF doubles titles, the first in October 1988 with Marion Maruska, and the second in February 1996 with Silke Meier. Ritter won one WTA doubles title when she and Karin Kschwendt won the 1992 Praha Open. Ritter did reach the singles final at the 1991 Ilva Trophy but lost in straight sets to Emanuela Zardo.
Ritter competed in the singles and doubles at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics where she and her partner Judith Wiesner reached the second round in the latter. Ritter’s best Grand Slam performance came in the singles at the 1994 French Open when she reached the quarter-finals.
