Vyacheslav Khrynin played basketball for the Soviet Union at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics, helping them win a silver medal. He also won gold medals at the 1963 and 1965 European Championships, later called EuroBasket, and added a bronze medal at the 1963 World Championships. After his retirement as an athlete, Khrynin coached Dynamo Moskva and worked in sports administration with the Soviet basketball federation.
