Austrian sprinter Silvia Schinzel was Austrian champion in the 400 metres (1978), 4×100 relay (1977, 1987 and 1989-90), and 4×400 relay (1975 and 1987). Therefore, she was selected for the 1976 Montréal Olympics and competed in the 200 metres. Schinzel was eliminated in the second round and could not start with the relay as her teammates were injured. At the 1975 Youth Europeans she won a 200 metres bronze medal.
