Austrian sprinter Martin Lachkovics was the national champion in 100 metres (1997, 1999-2000, 2003), 200 metres (1999-2000), 4×100 metres relay (1997, 1999-2000), and 4×400 metres relay (1995-2003). He participated in the 1996 Atlanta and 2000 Sydney Summer Olympics. With the 4x100 metres relay, Lachkovics was eliminated in the heats in 1996. In 2000, he competed in the 100 and the 200 metres but was eliminated early. In total, he won 44 national sprint titles.
Lachkovics later turned to bobsledding and placed an unfortunate fourth at the 2010 European Championships in both the two- and four-men bobs. He was also nominated for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics but was not selected.
