Austrian hurdler Ernst Leitner finished fifth in the 1934 European Championships in the 400 metres hurdles, but was disqualified in the final of the 110 hurdles that year. At the 1936 Berlin Olympic Games he was eliminated in the heats both in the 110 and 400 metres hurdles.
Leitner won multiple Austrian titles as follows: 4×100 relay (1935), 4×400 relay (1935, 1941), 110 metres hurdles (1933, 1935-36, 1938, 1941), 400 metres hurdles (1933-1936), and decathlon (1941). After the Nazi German “Anschluss” he also finished fourth in the 110 hurdles at the 1940 German Championships, and then was runner-up in 1942.
Personal Bests: 110H – 14.8 (1935); 400H – 54.8 (1936).
