Biography

Belgian track and field athlete Arthur De Laender specialised in the shot put, discus, and javelin, winning multiple national titles. De Laender won his first Belgian title in 1913 when he became the national champion in the discus. He won a further seven titles in the discus (1914, 1921–24, 1926–27), along with three titles in the shot put (1919, 1922–23). In 1921 he set a Belgian record in the discus throw that stood until 1932. De Laender competed in the discus and javelin at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, finishing 16th and 25th respectively. He was also scheduled to participate in the shot put, but did not start in the event.
