Patrick Stevens was the top Belgian sprinter in the 1990s. He won twenty outdoor Belgian titles, 12 in the 100 m and 8 in the 200 m. Internationally, he performed best in the 200 m, winning a bronze medal in the 1994 European Championships and a silver medal in the 2000 European Indoor Championships. He also reached the 200m final at the 1996 Olympics and the 1997 World Championships. Stevens had a relationship with British heptathlon champion Denise Lewis and the two had a daughter together, although they split up in 2005.
