Canadian track and field athlete Jimmy Fitzgerald represented the Edmonton Liberal Club Athletics Association in the early 1900s. Born in England in 1883, Fitzgerald moved to Canada where he took up middle-distance running. He returned to England in 1908 to compete in four events at the London Olympics. His best result came in the 5 miles race where he placed seventh in the final. Fitzgerald later moved to the United States where he lived in Boston during the 1950s.

Previously misidentified as one John Ebenezer Fitzgerald (b. 8 September 1886 in South Norwich, Ontario – d. 1963), but this is not supported by contemporary newspapers.
