Warren Montabone shined as a track star at Loyola College of Montreal (now part of Concordia University), attending the institution from 1923 through 1926. During that time, he was selected to represent Canada in the 110 and 400 metres hurdles at the 1924 Paris Olympics, but he was eliminated in the first round of both contests. Four years later, he had the same result in the 400 metres hurdles at the 1928 Amsterdam Games. In 1927 he set a record in the 110 metres hurdles that lasted nearly six decades, while in 1928 he set one in the 440-yard hurdles that lasted a quarter century. After graduation, he had a long and successful career as an electrical engineer, and was the inaugural president of the Ottawa Chapter of the Illuminating Engineering Society.
