Biography

Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1898 Alex Ponton later moved to Canada where he represented the Broadview YMCA in Toronto. In the late 1910s and early 1920s he produced consistent results in track sprinting events to earn himself a place on the Canadian Olympic team. Ponton ran in both the 100 and 200 metres at the 1920 Antwerpen Games, reaching the semi-finals in the latter.

Personal Bests: 100y – 10.2 (1921); 200 – 22.1ys (1921).
