Biography

During the 1920s and 1930s Danish athlete Louis Lundgren excelled as a hurdler, sprinter, and triple jumper, winning multiple national titles and setting several records across all three disciplines. In the triple jump Lundgren set a Danish record in July 1923 before improving it a month later with the mark standing until 1930. He also set a national record in the 400 metres hurdles in 1923, and went on to improve it on two more occasions. He was also part of the 4 x 400 metres relay quartet that set Danish records in 1924 and 1930. Lundgren was the Danish champion in the 400 metres (1925, 1927–29, 1932), the 110 metres hurdles (1925–30, 1932, 1934–35), the 400 metres hurdles (1926–32, 1934–35), and the triple jump (1926–29, 1935). He was also an eight-time champion in the 4 x 400 metres relay. Lundgren ran in the 110 and 400 metres hurdles at the 1924 Paris and 1928 Amsterdam Olympics but never progressed past the opening heats.

Personal Bests: 400 – 50.8 (1928); 110H – 15.0 (1925); 400H – 55.9 (1928).
