Biography

In the 1910s Oluf Petersen had an outstanding career as both a footballer and a track and field athlete with him winning the Danish football league title and ten national titles in athletics. Petersen played as a defender for B.93 in 56 football matches from 1909 to 1919, winning the Danish championship and the national cup in 1916.

As a track and field athlete Petersen represented IF København from 1911 to 1920. During this time he set 13 Danish records, with seven in the shot put, three in the shot put using both hands, and three in the javelin. As a true all-round athlete he won ten Danish championships, with his first one coming in 1912 in the javelin. Petersen won another javelin title in 1916, along with titles in the shot put (1912–15, 1917, 1919–20) and the pentathlon (1917), and a silver medal in the decathlon in 1917. He competed in both the shot put and javelin at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics where he finished 11th and 19th, respectively.
