During the first half of the 1920s Lauri Härö was the best sprinter in Finland, winning titles in both the 100 and 200 metres. Härö won four Finnish titles in the 100 metres (1920–23), along with a silver in 1925. In the 200 metres he won the national title in 1923, silver in 1912 and 1922, and bronze in 1920 and 1925. He ran in both events at the 1924 Paris Olympics but his national form did not translate to Olympic success as he was eliminated in the heats in both races. Härö was also part of the Finnish quartet that ran in the 4 × 100 metres relay in Paris but again he did not advance from the heats. After his sporting career he worked as a chief forester for the state-owned enterprise Metsähallitus.
Personal Bests: 100 – 10.8 (1922); 200 – 22.2 (1923).
