Biography

Pekka Johansson’s bronze medal in the javelin at the 1920 Olympics was the international highlight of his career. He competed again in 1924, finishing eighth. In 1920 Johansson also took part in the decathlon, but had to retire after four events due to an injury. He later changed his name to the Finnish Jaale. He was a three-time Finnish Champion in the decathlon (1918-20), also winning three national titles in football as a forward with HJK Helsinki (1917-19).
