James Cohen

A top class international sprinter and long jumper, James Cohen would undoubtedly have had greater success as a sprinter he had not been disadvantaged in his starting due to acute deafness. In his only appearance in the University match, he placed fourth in the long jump in 1928, but in 1929 he won the long jump at the AAA Championships and in the match against France. At the 1930 British Empire Games, he won a silver medal in the 4x110y relay (with John Heap, John Hanlon, and Stanley Englehart) and placed sixth in the long jump. He was a finalist in the 100y at the 1931 AAA Championships.
