German sprinter Peter Kraus participated in the 1952 Helsinki Olympics where he was eliminated in the 200 in the second round and with the relay in the heats. Two years later he ran on the sprint relay that appeared to win the European Championships, but they were disqualified after the race.
Kraus won a West German title in the 1951 200 metres. He later married non-Olympian high jumper Antonie Butz. His father owned a stud farm, was a harness racer and taught his son the sport. Beside his athletics career Kraus was also active as a horse jockey.
