Ghanaian track and field athlete Philip Attipoe competed in sprinting in the 1980s. Attipoe ran in the 100 metres at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics where he advanced to the quarter-finals. He was also part of the Ghanaian quartet that reached the semi-finals in the 4 x 100 metres relay. Attipoe later moved to the United States where he lived and worked in the Seattle area. In 2013 he co-founded the JHP Cultural and Diversity Legacy, a non-profit organisation working with African immigrants in the music, dance, and arts scene. From 2018 to 2022 Attipoe also served on the board of ShoreLake Arts working with youngsters in the community.
