Paddy Lowry won the intermediate 220 yards title at the Irish Schools Athletics Championships in 1953. He won a total of four Irish AAU sprint titles (100 yards – 1956, 1958, 1959; 220 yards – 1960) and 4 AAU/NIAA All-Ireland sprint titles (100 yards – 1960; 220 yards – 1959, 1960, 1961). He competed for the Civil Service AC in Dublin and Tralee AC. Lowry joined Warner-Lambert as an assistant accountant and was a director when he left in 1969, when he became financial manager of Bayer Products, later to become Sterling-Winthrop Pharmaceuticals, where he eventually became managing director and chairman.
