Oprando Bottura was an Italian athlete who had his best moments in the years after World War I. A javelin specialist, Bottura graduated in engineering in 1923, after having won two Italian championships in 1919 and 1920. He often faced off against the Sardinian and Olympian Carlo Clemente who won the next four championships. Bottura also won the 1922 Italian shot put title, although with a modest 11.93.
Bottura’s only major tournament was the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics, where he was eliminated in the qualifying round, as expected. Bottura retired after not being chosen for the 1924 Paris Olympics.
Personal Best: JT – 52.70 (1922).
