Emilio Giovanoli was an Italian middle distance runner of the early 20th century whose best event was the 5,000 metres. At the 1908 Italian Championships Giovanoli took second in the 5K behind Pericle Pagliani. This achievement qualified Giovanoli to participate at the 1908 London Olympics in the 3-mile team event. The following year he tried his hand at 1,500 metres. In Milano on 18 April a race was held, which in practice replaced the Italian Championship, which did not take place over this distance between 1907 and 1912. The race was won by the Olympian Massimo Cartasegna, just in front of Giovanoli, who ran 4:24.8.
