Biography

Emilio Mori was an Italian athlete who competed between the two World Wars. By profession an engineer and very tall, he started cross-country in 1929 but became a specialist in the 400 hurdles although, in 1936, demonstrating his all-round athletic ability, he won the Italian decathlon title with 5,697 points.

He was the Italian 400 hurdles champion in 1933 (55.8) and 1937 (55.0), and when the era of Luigi Facelli ended, Mori became Italy’s number one. In 1933, Mori was bronze medalist in the 400 hurdles at the Torino International University Games, predecessors of the Universiade. His only other major tournament was the 1936 Berlin Olympics where he was eliminated in the first round with 55.6. He won 11 caps with the Italian team from 1929-37.
