Biography
Attending Kyoto Girls High School, Asa Dogura represented Japan at the Los Angeles Olympics, placing fifth with the Japanese 4x100 metre relay team. She later married fellow 1932 Olympian Naoto Tajima, who was to become gold medalist in the triple jump at the Berlin Olympics four years later. At the age of 93 Dogura died from cancer. She was said to be the model for a character in the novel The Fruit of Olympus published in 1940 by Hidemitsu Tanaka, well-known novelist and rowing Olympian.
