Samson Kitur won a bronze medal at the 1993 World Championships in the 400 metres, and was All-Africa champion over 400 in 1991 and 1995. He was also second at the 1990 Commonwealth Games and 4th at the 1995 World Championships. In 1990 he led Kenya to a gold medal in the 4×400 at the Commonwealth Games.
