Raimo Vartia was a basketball player who competed for Finland at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics. He played for Finland at the 1959, 1961, and 1963 European Championships, and helped Finland win the Nordic Championship in 1962 and 1964.
Domestically Vartia played for Helsingin Kisa-Veikot (HKV) from 1953-68, appearing in 268 club matches, and averaging 13.9 points/game. He had a high game in the Finnish League of 47 points. Vartia won five Finnish championships and had two silver and two bronze medals at the nationals. He later coached HKT and Kontula Athletics for three seasons.
