Biography

Following a successful career as an all-round track and field athlete Viktoras Ražaitis later became a noted civil engineer in Lithuania. At the Lithuanian championships he was a six-time national champion, winning four titles in the triple jump (1926–28, 1930), and two in the javelin (1928, 1930). In 1928 Ražaitis competed in the javelin at the Amsterdam Olympics where he finished 26th. After his athletics career he graduated from the University of Liège in Belgium in 1934 with him soon finding work in construction and engineering. Ražaitis was involved in the design and construction of more than 150 structures in Lithuania including a military complex, multiple houses, factories, and bridges. Even in his later life he was still involved with athletics with him being a representative of the Lithuanian Sports Federations at a meeting in December 1988 to restore the National Olympic Committee.
