Triny Bourkel had a brief international career in track and field athletics after World War II. She finished sixth in the high jump at the 1946 European Championships and set a national record of 1.57 metres that stood for 24 years, until it was broken in 1980. At the 1948 London Olympics, she was joint-14th in the high jump (alongside France’s Anne-Marie Colchen and Emma Reed of the United States) among 19 participants. In addition to the high jump, she was also active in sprinting, the long jump, and the discus. Following her retirement from active competition, she worked as a coach.
