Biography

Dutch track and field athlete Ali de Vries began her career with Amsterdamse Dames Atletiek Vereniging (ADA) in 1934. A specialist in sprinting De Vries was a strong runner in the 4 x 100 metres relay and was part of the Dutch quartet that held the national record from 1936 to 1946. She ran in the relay at the 1936 Berlin Olympics where the team finished fifth. In 1941 she became the national champion in the 200 metres and continued to compete in athletics until the end the of the 1950s.
