Biography

Victor Zubkov started his basketball career with Burevestnik Rostov-na-Don, moving to CSKA Moskva in 1957, where he played 10 seasons. Zubkov twice played on winning teams at the European Champions Cup (1961, 1963), won three European titles (1957, 1959, 1961), earned two Olympic silver medals (1956, 1960), was an eight-time Soviet Champion with CSKA Moskva (1959-66), and twice captured titles at the Spartakiade (1959, 1963). In 1963 he won a bronze medal at the World Championships. Zubkov retired from basketball in 1966 and worked as senior instructor and deputy chief at the Valerian Kuybyshev military-engineering academy. Zubkov also coached the Mozambican national team.
