Biography

Norwegian all-round track and field athlete John Johansen won multiple medals at the national championships in the early 1900s. In 1906 Johansen became the Norwegian champion in the 100 metres and won a second title in the event three years later. At the 1909 championships he also won bronze in the 110 metres hurdles and silver in the high jump. His final medals came in 1911, winning gold in the 110 metres hurdles and silver in the long jump. He was selected to run in the 100 metres at the 1908 London Olympics but did not advance from the heats. Johansen also competed in the two javelin disciplines at the London Games although the distances were not recorded.
