Biography

Clarence Oldfield was a track and field athlete who competed in sprint races for South Africa in the 1920s. The quartet of Oldfield, Henry Dafel, Jack Oosterlaak, and Bevil Rudd won the silver medal in the 4 × 400 metres relay at the 1920 Antwerpen Olympics. He also ran in the 400 metres at the Antwerpen Games where he reached the quarter-finals. Oldfield ran in the 400 metres and 800 metres at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics, reaching the semi-finals in both races. South Africa had a team for the 4 × 400 metres relay in Amsterdam but they did not start the race.
