Biography

Len Richardson was a South African long-distance runner who competed either side of World War I. Born in Highgate, London, Richardson moved to South Africa, with him representing the country at three Olympic Games. At the 1912 Stockholm Olympics he finished eighth in the cross-country race. He also ran in the 10,000 metres in Stockholm where he reached the final but did not finish the course. He returned to the Olympics for the 1920 Antwerpen Games where again he ran in the cross-country race, but this time did not finish. At the 1924 Paris Games Richardson ran in his third cross-country race at the Olympics finishing in ninth. He also ran in the 3,000 metres steeplechase but was eliminated in the heats.

Personal Bests: 10000 – 32:30.6 (1912); 3000S – 9:43.7 (1922).
