Vasily Molokanov dominated the Moscow athletics scene in 1911 in the throwing disciplines. His performances in the hammer throw and ball throw that year were recorded as the first Russian records ever in these events. At the 1912 Olympic Games in Stockholm he only competed in the discus throw with both hands, placing last, exactly 30 metres behind bronze medallist Emil Magnusson.
A member of the Society of Ski Lovers (OLLS) in Moskva (Moscow) he organized the first children’s competitions. Later, he developed an interest in boxing and became coach of Pavel Nikiforov, a multiple middleweight champion of Russia and the USSR, and one of the founders of the national boxing school.
