Ruth Svedberg

Ruth Svedberg was a Swedish athlete who dominated track and field athletics in her home country during the 1930s. Svedberg won the bronze medal in the discus throw at the 1928 Amsterdam Olympics. Svedberg also ran in the 100 metres and the 4 × 100 metres relay. In both events Svedberg did not advance beyond the opening heats. At the 1930 Women’s World Games in Praha Svedberg won the bronze medal in the triathlon.

During her career Svedberg was a national champion more than 20 times in multiple disciplines including the triathlon, discus throw, javelin, shot put, and long jump. She also set national records in the shot put, discus throw and triathlon. Svedberg died in November 2002 at the age of 99.
