Distance runner Edward Dahl represented Sundbybergs IK where he won four Swedish titles, set a world record, and competed at the Olympics. In 1905 Dahl was the national champion in the 1,500 metres and the 10,000 metres. The following year he successfully defended his 1,500 metres title and became the national champion in the 800 metres in 1908. In October 1907 Dahl set a world record in the 3,000 metres that stood until August 1908 until it was bettered by John Svanberg. Dahl also held the Swedish record in the 1,500 metres from 1908 to 1910.
Dahl ran in the five-miles race at the 1906 Intercalated Games where he won the bronze medal. At the 1906 Games he ran in the 1,500 metres but did not finish in his heat. Dahl was also scheduled to compete in the 800 metres but he did not start the race. Two years later at the 1908 London Olympics he competed in the 800 metres, 1,500 metres, five miles, and three-miles team races, but did not advance from his heats in any of them.
Personal Bests: 800 – 2:00.6 (1907); 1500 – 4:09.6 (1908); 5 miles – 26:26.2 (1906).
