Swedish distance runner Georg Peterson represented IFK Norrköping. At the 1908 London Olympics Peterson ran in the five miles race and the three miles team event, but did not advance from the heats in either. He was also scheduled to run in the marathon and the 1,500 metres but did not start either race.
A year after the London Olympics Peterson won the cross-country race at the Swedish championships, retaining his title the following year. In June 1910 he set a national record in the 10,000 metres with 31:30.0, which stood until 1918 when Eric Backman ran 31:13.7.
