Nataliya Pomoshchnikova (later Voronova) took up athletics in 1979 and was selected for the Soviet national team in 1984 after she won the 100 at the 1983 European Junior Championships. She competed at three Olympic Games (1988, 1996, 2000), four World Championships (1987, 1993, 1995, 1997), and the 1998 European Championships. At the biggest internationals she won gold in the 4x100 at the 1993 World Championships, adding bronzes in the 1988 Olympic 4x100 and the 1987 Worlds 4x100. Pomoshchnikova also won titles at the 1992 World Cup and 1997 European Cup in the 100, adding a 1997 European Cup 4x100 gold. She also won several silver and bronze medals at lesser internationals. Pomoshchnikova won the 1984 Soviet 100 title and Russian 100 titles in 1992-94 and the 1992 200 title. After finishing her sports career, Pomoshchnikova worked as an athletics coach, as an official at the Ministry for Sports of Russia, and as a physical therapist at the rehabilitation center for the disabled in Moskva.
