Russian track and field athlete Vladimir Andreyev was a specialist in racewalking and had success at both national and international level. Andreyev was both a Soviet and Russian champion in his early career, earning himself a spot at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. At the Games he represented the Unified Team in the 20 kilometres racewalk, finishing 13th. He continued to compete in the 20km event, with him finishing 19th at the 1993 World Championships and third at the 1999 World Cup. The latter result earned him another place on the Olympic team, and he won bronze at the Sydney Games. In 2002 Andreyev won silver at the European Athletics Championships in München and at the World Cup in Torino. He competed at his third and final Olympics in 2004 in Athina, finishing seventh.
