Annette Peters

Annette Peters was a distance runner who ran the 3,000 metres at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. She started in college at Montana State, where she met her future husband, Zach Peters, a football player there. After transferring to Oregon, she won the 5,000 metres at the 1988 NCAA Meet. Peters won three USA titles on the track, doubling in the 1,500 and 3,000 in 1993, and repeating as 3K champion in 1994. She also set an American record (14:56.07) in the 5,000 in Berlin in August 1993, and she was world ranked #3 at the end of that year. Peters also featured as a cross-country runner, competing four times at the International Cross-Country Championship (1989, 1991-93). In 2022 she was honored by the Museum of World Athletics (MOWA) with an Oregon22 Heritage Trail plaque to commemorate the 2022 World Championships, held in Eugene, Oregon, USA.
