Biography

Ray Armstead helped the US win the gold medal in the 4x400 relay at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, running the second leg in the heats and the final. Armstead also helped the US win the 1985 World Cup title in the 4x400. He placed fourth in the 400 metres at the 1984 US Olympic Trials. His best finish at the US Nationals was eighth in 1986. Between 1984-86, Armstead was ranked in the US top 10 in the 400 metres, ranking #4, #3, and #5 respectively. Armstead ran in college for Northeast Missouri State University, later Truman State University.
