Competing for the Olympic Club (San Francisco), Bob Kelley won the AAU triple jump in 1929 and 1931. He was second at the AAU in 1921 and third in 1928. The 1928 AAU Meet doubled as the Olympic Trials so his third-place finish qualified him for the Olympic Team. Kelley had a long career for that era, ranking in the US top 20 in the triple jump seven times between 1921-31.
