Thad Shideler of Indiana University and the Chicago AA placed second to the 1904 AAU champion, Frank Castleman of Colgate, in the heats of the 110m hurdles at the 1904 Olympics. In the final, Shideler beat Castleman but lost to the 1903 AAU champion, Fred Schule of the Michigan Wolverines.
