Biography

James Sullivan won the 1907 AAU mile and finished third in the 1905 AAU steeplechase. He ran for the Irish-American AC. Sullivan ran at two Olympic Games, competing in the 800 and 1,500 in 1906 and the 1,500 in 1908. He won the mile at the 1905 Metropolitan AAU Championship. He continued competing through 1912 despite tendon problems that required surgery. Sullivan worked for over 50 years as clerk of court for Kings County Court in New York City.
