Dragutin Topić was a six-time Olympic high jumper (1992-2012) who just missed a medal in 1996 when he finished fourth. Topić first became known internationally when he won the 1990 World Junior Championship. He later won the 1990 European Championship and would be a 10-time finalist at global championships, with a best finish of fourth at the World Athletics Championships in 1999. Topić was a bronze medalist at the 1997 World Indoor Championships. At the European Indoor meet he won gold in 1996 and bronze medals in 1992 and 2000.
Topić competed for Yugoslavia, then Serbia & Montenegro, and finally Serbia. His daughter, Angelina Topić, followed her father as a high jumper, competing at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
