Robert Brewer wanted to be a pilot and doctor. But he was also a top skater, placing fourth at the US Championships in singles in 1957-58 and third in 1959-60. Brewer competed at the Worlds from 1957-59, placing 8th, 10th, and 11th, respectively. He retired from competition after the 1960 Olympics, joining an ice show to raise money for medical school. But he also joined the Marines and succeeded at both of his dreams. He became a fighter pilot in the Marines, and later earned his medical degree, practicing as a psychiatrist in Arizona.
