Bob Crowley grew up near Lake Placid, attending Saranac Lake High School, and graduating in 1969. He competed in the 1968 Olympics while a high school student. Crowley later attended Cortland State University and Clarkson College of Technology, and he would make his career in insurance. In 1967 Crowley was on the winning two-man team at the North American Championships and in the International Diamond Trophy.
