At Lake Placid HS, Don Dupree was a great football player and he went to Colorado State University on a football scholarship. He also played baseball and ran track in college but an injury put an end to those endeavours, so when he returned to Saranac Lake he joined his five brothers and became a bobsledder His biggest moment was his Olympic bronze medal as he never managed to ride on a national or North American champion. Dupree lived in Saranac Lake all his life where he worked as director of building and grounds for North Country Community College.
