Biography

Tom Hicks represented the Lyon Mountain Miners Bobsled Club, which later changed its name to the Republic Miners Bobsled Club. While sledding for them he was on the winning teams in 1946 at both the AAU and the North American 4-man championships. Hicks graduated from Indiana Technical School and then worked for Republic Steel until 1947. He then began working for Ingersoll-Rand Equipment Company as a salesman, and stayed with them for over 30 years, retiring as an executive vice-president.

Hicks and his partner, Rita Hicks, were killed in their home in July 1992. They had gone to sleep when burglars broke into the home and shot them both in the head.
