Theodore Kara also won three NCAA boxing championships for the University of Idaho in 1939-41, winning at 127 lbs. in 1939 and at 120 lbs. in 1940-41. In 1941 his brother, Frank, won the NCAA title in boxing at 127 lbs., the first brother tandem to win individual NCAA championships.
Ted Kara later became a radio-man in the United States Army Air Corp and was declared dead after his plane went missing in action over the Pacific Ocean in 1944 during World War II. His official death date is February 14, 1946.
