Biography

Canadian-born ice hockey defenceman Bernie Hutz represented Austria at the 1984 Sarajevo and 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics. On both occasions, the Austrian team was eliminated in the group stage. In total, he won 47 international caps, scoring three goals and nine assists. Domestically, he played in Austria with HC Salzburg (1979-82), Kapfenberger SV (1982-84), Innsbrucker EV (1984-86), VEU Feldkirch (1986-87), Salzburger EC (1987-88), and Wiener (Vienna) EV /1989-90) before moving back to Canada. He then coached junior hockey and worked in bridge construction.
