Biography

In 1936 Chester Rutecki won the Chicago Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions, the Chicago Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) tournament, and qualified for the US Olympic team at the Berlin Olympics. At the Olympics Rutecki won one bout and then lost by decision to Hungarian Imre Mándi. He turned pro in 1938 and had a brief professional career, fighting exclusively in Chicago, and retiring in late 1939, with a pro record of 8 wins and 1 loss. He never fought for a major title.
